Jersey is the largest of the British Channel Islands. Located some 100 miles south of mainland Britain, Jersey is the most southerly island of the British Isles. In fact, it's much closer to France, lying just 14 miles from its coast.
Jersey's economy is largely based on financial services, tourism, e-commerce and agriculture.
Financial services dominate and contribute to approximately sixty per cent of the island's economy and Jersey is recognised as one of the world’s leading offshore financial centres with over 33,000 registered companies. Its successful combination of stability and reliability has kept Jersey at the forefront of global finance for over half a century.
Jersey appears on the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development 'White List' which details the jurisdictions which have implemented internationally agreed standards of tax cooperation. The Jersey Financial Services Commission regulates the Island's finance industry.
Bright Fact: Around ten percent of the world's recovering endangered species have been housed at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, (formerly known as Jersey Zoo), in the last 50 years.
