Chris Stamper, Chief Financial Officer

Chris has overall responsibility for our financial planning, reporting and budget management activities, and oversees all related controls and processes. His mandate also extends to the overall management and direction of the Group’s financial, risk and legal departments, and ensuring that all teams have access to appropriate performance and development resources.

As a member of the board, Chris is heavily involved in the development of strategy, focusing particularly on exploring and analysing opportunities that support our growth plans. He also functions in an advisory capacity across a wide variety of other matters Group-wide, from customer service and best practice to business efficiency and organisational culture.

Background and experience

Chris joined the Group at the beginning of 2016, bringing with him extensive commercial and technical accounting experience, and a proven track record of executive leadership and change management.

He first began his career in audit, qualifying as an accountant in 2000. Before accepting a role with the Aztec Group, he worked for FTSE 250 listed recruitment company Hays. Chris spent over nine years there in total, initially as Head of Internal Audit, then Group Financial Controller, culminating in his appointment to Divisional Finance Director for the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

  • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (chartered accountant).
  • Bachelor of Laws from the University of Leicester.

Outside of the office

Chris has a passion for photography and the great outdoors. When he can find the time, he enjoys indulging his interests in wildlife and nature – past ventures include photographing and walking with polar bears near Churchill in Canada.
