A dedicated professional with over 18 years’ experience within financial services across Asian, European and offshore domiciles, James has always been passionate about continuous development and new skills acquisition, whether it is for himself or the teams he is responsible for.
Originally from Malta, James has an instinctive sense of adventure and desire to explore the world. He trained and qualified with PwC in Malta, and in addition to this, James also expanded his practical knowledge through secondments in Milan and Jersey. Consequently, this experience allowed James to carefully craft his private equity and real estate funds expertise across different domiciles and specialisms. Whether it’s providing quality control on financial statements, analysing practicalities of the LPA clauses, managing remote and on the ground teams, setting up an office in a new jurisdiction or sitting on European IFRS and Securitisation Committees, James’ enthusiasm and can do attitude is second to none.
Prior to joining the Group, James headed up the Jersey Private Equity funds practice at one of the largest fund and corporate services providers where he developed substantial knowledge and understanding fund and corporate services delivery in Luxembourg, Singapore, London and Jersey. Searching for the next challenge which would allow him to play a direct role in developing both an organisational offering and footprint, after a business meeting with his fellow LPA and Private Equity expert Alan Ross, James realised that the Aztec Group was the right place for him.
James firmly believes that the reason why the Aztec Group differs from its competition is due to “its commitment to staff, whether it’s through the Aztec Academy, social events or personal relationships. It’s only when colleagues are well trained and driven, and have the backing of a very supportive management team, that they can excel at client service. The focus on continuously maintaining this positive chain, especially during times of outstanding growth, definitely sets Aztec apart.”
James is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
