Karen McSorley, Associate Director

Specialising in private equity funds, and with a depth of experience in real estate, Karen is key to the administration of one of our largest clients.

Following studying and qualifying as a chartered accountant in Ireland, Karen moved to Jersey in 1997 where she began her career in financial services in an auditing role at KPMG. Expanding her expertise in banking, Karen focused on management accounts, statutory accounts and regulatory reporting in a financial control role at Standard Bank for eight years. Karen diversified her career path by switching her focus to administration and became an integral component of a fund administration team at a local fund services provider, focusing initially on administering private equity funds before broadening her skills to real estate.

Having joined one of the Aztec Group’s client teams as an Associate Director in 2014, Karen’s extensive experience enhances our service providing and hugely benefits the management and guidance of her team. Concentrating on a private equity fund structure, Karen will be instrumental in assisting with the launch of new funds as well as the administration of funds within the structure. With 1 in 3 clients migrating to the Group from other service providers, Karen will also lead the fund migrations with her team.

Reflecting on the Aztec Group’s unrivalled statistics in relation to staff and client retention, Karen comments; “The Group has a very good reputation locally as a service provider and as an employer. The staff enjoy working at the Group and it’s reflected in the service they deliver. Clients appreciate the level of staff retention as they can correspond with the same people, often throughout the life of a fund.”

Karen is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) and a Member of the Institute of Financial Services (previously the Chartered Institute of Bankers).
